The 34th Annual Corporate Spelling Bee!

On August 26, 2025, PAVE East Texas, previously Literacy Council of Tyler, held its 34th Annual Corporate Spelling Bee at Green Acres Crosswalk Center. Twelve teams from local businesses competed in our lively, fairytale-themed “Once Upon a Time” Bee, showing off their spelling skills and creative costumes.

This year, the Costume Award was presented to First Christian Church, which wowed the audience as characters from The Wizard of Oz. The Spirit Stick was awarded to First Presbyterian Church for lighting up the event with their spirited and energetic presence, marking their second consecutive year of receiving this award.

In the last round, the championship came down to Genesis Group and Tyler Junior College in a fast-paced final round, where every word counted. In the end, Genesis Group pulled ahead, spelling 27 words in just two minutes to claim the coveted Spelling Bee trophy.

The Spelling Bee is our signature fundraising event and kicks off our annual fund campaign. We are delighted to announce that over $80,000 was raised to support our various programs. This ensures that our adult students can continue to earn their GEDs, learn or improve their English, and lead their families into brighter futures.
